Belt Handling Equipment
Specialised, Large-Scale Equipment For Conveyor Belt Removal & Installation
Conveyor belt handling can be time-consuming and labour-intensive work. Fenner Conveyors supply specialised, large-scale belt handling equipment, manufactured at our East Rockingham, Mackay and Traralgon facilities.
Over the years, Fenner Conveyors, ACE and Belle Banne have become established as industry leaders in the design, manufacture and supply of custom conveyor belt handling equipment, setting the industry benchmark for safe and efficient conveyor belt installation and change-out.
Our Engineering Teams design hydraulic and mechanical systems that are purpose-built to each unique application and environment, ensuring your belt change out goes smoothly.
Our belt winders and braked let off stands cover a range of belt widths and roll sizes up to 3200mm wide, and up to dead load of 90 tonne.
There are three models of belt winders and let off stands available which vary from a torque range of 50kNm to 150kNm.
The smaller unit is all electric, using VSD technology, and the larger two have electric-hydraulic closed loop transmissions which are perfectly suited for the larger applications. The let off stand structures are dimensionally identical to the belt winders that utilise band or disc brakes to prevent uncontrolled belt movement.
All of these machines have an operator friendly control interface that gives instant feedback on operating condition, and can have set points easily dialled in to manage torque and tension. Speeds are infinitely variable and can be controlled using a tethered Pendant so the operator is clear of the machine and have a clear view of the equipment being used.
The complete range of the belt winding equipment is designed to be converted from transport to operation quickly, safely and easily.
First developed by Belle Banne Conveyors in 2006, the 900 turning frame has revolutionised conveyor belt maintenance. Designed to change the direction of the conveyor belt that is being installed by 90°, allowing belt pulling equipment to be aligned 90° to the belt centre line.
This equipment saves time and effort when handling conveyor belt and provides a safer alternative to positioning and locating heavy equipment.
Turning frames for belt widths up to 2400mm wide are readily available off-the-shelf, with other angles available on POA.
- Belt widths up to 2400mm
- Maximum Belt Pulling Force of 80kN (8 tonnes)
Belting is heavy and other flaking systems can create manual handling issues and high belt pull forces. We developed a design to minimise both the manual handling and belt friction associated with flaking out and pulling on long lengths of heavy steel cord belts.
The design is based on rolling elements, meaning the force required to pull the belts into and out of the flaking system is considerably less than dragging the belt over itself, allowing for the use of smaller and simpler winches. This also assists with keeping the mounting and anchoring of the equipment to a minimum.
Benefits:
-
Designed completely to Australian Standards and fully supported with spares, upgrades and ongoing development.
-
Manual handling and line of fire risks are minimised.
- Modular design allows quick set up for different conveyor belt lengths.
-
Portable design, with built-in transport and storage solutions.
-
Lower forces generated from reduced friction, meaning smaller winches and winding equipment are needed.
Our belt flaking systems are ideal for use with belts wider than 1400mm and heavier than 40kg/m.
Our belt pullers utilise two 37kW Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) to drive two pulleys through planetary gearboxes. With a peak rated pulling force of 36 tonnes, and a sustained pulling force of 32 tonnes, this machine out performs traditional hydraulic driven machines providing a much more reliable and efficient operation. The Human Machine Interface (HMI) control system provides complete operator control over pulling force, with live feedback.
- Belt widths up to 2400mm
- Peak pulling force of 36 tonnes
- Belt pulling speeds of up to 19m/min
We custom build winches for large-scale belt handling applications. Winches work seamlessly with our range of belt handlng equipment and have a Human Machine Interface (HMI) providing the operator with live feedback, a stalling function that enables the pull force to be regulated, and a free-wheeling function that enables the winch cable to be pulled out under no load.
Winches assist in various stages of belt handling, such as during flaking - returning the trolley system after each layer of the flake is made, or during splicing - positioning the belt ends on the splicing table for maintenance or shutdown.
Most belt change-outs require the conveyor system to rotate in order to replace the belting. The force to overcome the friction can be very high, exceeding the capacity of most portable equipment available.
Belle Banne Conveyors developed a simple solution of fitting smaller, external drives ‒ pony drives ‒ to existing conveyor systems to achieve a more controlled belt change-out.
We understand one size doesn't fit all, which is why we custom-design pony drives to suit the application. We also have an extensive hire fleet of pony drives at our Traralgon facility, that can be easily adapted for one-off applications.
Our Belle Banne Conveyors Team leads the way in hydraulically-controlled belt clamps that are easy to install, with each design load tested to twice the nameplate rating.
Dual-purpose in design, they are for use with higher strength steel cold belts, either as a brake in dynamic applications, like belt change-outs, or as a static clamp in routine tasks like pulley maintenance.
Hire Belt Handling Equipment
For less complex belt change-outs, we also have a range of belt handling equipment for hire.
